How we handle your information
The Work with DSI form asks for your name, your email, and a description of your project. Here is exactly what happens to what you enter.
What we collect
Only what the form asks: your name and email, your department or organization, a short description of the project and its data, any funding context you choose to share, and your rough timeline. There are no hidden fields collecting anything else, and these pages carry no analytics or tracking scripts.
Where it lives
In the Data Science Institute's own project-tracking database, on a University of Wisconsin–Madison–managed server administered by DSI. Your submission is not sent to, stored in, or processed by any third-party survey or marketing service.
The one outside service involved is Calendly, which handles only the meeting booking: after you submit, we pass your name and email to Calendly to prefill the scheduling page. What you do on Calendly's pages is covered by Calendly's privacy notice; your project description never goes there.
Who sees it
The DSI staff who handle incoming requests, and the staff member assigned to meet with you. Submissions land as drafts in a review queue — nothing becomes an active project, and no information moves anywhere else, until a person at DSI has read your request.
What we will never do with it
Sell it, share it outside the university for marketing, or use your email for anything other than the request you sent. Asking us for help commits you to nothing.
Cookies
One functional cookie, kept for thirty minutes, so the confirmation page can tell you who you'll be meeting. No advertising or analytics cookies on these pages.
Questions, corrections, or removal
Email research@datascience.wisc.edu to review what you sent, correct it, or ask us to remove it. This page covers the intake form specifically; the UW–Madison privacy notice covers university websites generally.
